I'm currently raising 2 Khaki Cambell ducklings as house pets. The same company that sells the Flightsuit for parrots sells special duck ones. They are friendly and cuddly. They will hop up on my lap and eat out of my hand and take treats. They will be staying in a custom built indoor enclosure and have free roam of the house when I'm home and they are diapered. Plus of course plenty of walks and outdoor fun. Their names are Flash and Crash. Many people have told me they are only ducks and I'm silly for investing time or money into them but as far as I'm concerned they're just another parrot. I even came up with a new name for them, RIVER PARROTS! I won't know if they are male or female for a while but they are sexually dimorphic. Let me know if anyone has an idea for the indoor enclosure. It doesn't need a swimming pool, just an attached large nestbox for them to sleep in. It needs to be waterproof, splash proof, and easy to clean as they are very messy with their poo, food, and water. I was thinking of a plywood corral with a layer of thick plastic on the walls and floor.

OH MY GOSH! They are so adorable! :)

"They are very messy with their poo, food and water"- These little cuties do indeed sound just like parrots lol. Are you really training them to be diapered? I cannot imagine how funny 2 little diapered ducks will look running around! I don't know much about ducks as pets, so no suggestions on enclosure or anything, but I wish you the best of luck with them!

How about a childs wading pool as the base a firm plastic type and then some sort of fencing around it.. plus you would need a bedding of some sort. At least the pool you could take outside to hose off when you change the bedding.:)

They're so cute. Back in the '90s my daughter had a house duck named Wade. :) It was a wonderful experience for all of us. As he grew up, he ended up moving outside to one of our spare kennels and had his own pool. They really are messy beyond the scope of my tolerance for inside pet. Hope you figure out something that works. Please post pictures of what you come up with. Can't wait to watch them grow up.

Ducks are indeed messy. Get ready for lots of mess. I have a friend who uses her duck as a Therapy Bird where I bring my birds. Her duck wears a diaper, and is very friendly. Ducks are very smart, and will be great fun for you. Enjoy them! I love the name "River Parrots".

Well just an update, They are getting huge! They love cuddling and playing. I can't wait for it to get nice so I can take them to the park. Flash is much braver than Crash. I will post pictures later.

Awww, there so cute. I would have named them Daffy and Donald. lol:p

How awesome! One day I want a peafowl that I'll harness train and maybe use as education. I would plan to mostly keep it in a large aviary but bring it inside. And I'll also buy the egg and incubate it so the bird is imprinted and used to people and touch.
