I don't understand how some people think giving their animals these kinds of things is ok. My dad gives my dog a couple sips of his beer when we go camping no matter how many times I tell him not to.

I can't help but think of all the caffeine, the sugar, the carbonated crap that's going into the poor tiny birds system. :( It's not even like a huge macaw having a tiny sip, this irn bru is probably about 60% of the birds daily fluid intake or something. :(

Now a ton of absolute morons are going to think this is cool and try giving their birds coke, pepsi, etc :(

That is disgusting ! . Very irresponsible on the owners part . And it said she is
a nursing student ? I hope she fails , maybe she would be happier working in
a fast food joint or a drive thru .

These are the moments when all I can say is either  or Picard.jpg (which is a pic of Picard from Star Trek, doing that exact same pose).

It sickens me how utterly stupid some people can be.

Thankfully it's the Daily Mail, which is a tabloid, like The National Enquirer or Weekly World News. Most people of normal intelligence in the UK know to dismiss everything in it.

the problem with these kinda stories are, there is always someone with less then average intelligence that can read, and will think its a great thing to do, i am surprise that poor bird aint had a heart attack yet, with all that sugar and caffine in its system

Loki once reached in to Hubs mouth to go after the beer he was drinking. We're sure he got a bit, and I was freaking out, called the Vet, etc. the Vet told me to just keep an eye on him, and sure enough, he was fine. Nothing I'd like to have happen again (who would have thought he'd go after something already in the mouth and let alone be able to actually get it???), so I can't imagine willingly giving my bird something that I know could harm them. Or getting one and not knowing what to feed them, what not to feed them, etc.

It's one thing for it to happen unexpectedly , but it's another
to knowingly give your animal anything that we know **** well isn't safe
and in small amounts can have a horrible outcome.

Merlin has eaten a cooked onion before and also had a sip of coffee and beer.

All unintentional, all caused panic, all were fine. We all have accidents and mistakes are made but intentionally letting your bird have something like this is just... so dense and horrible. :(

that poor little budgie

Everyone should write a letter to the editor of the Daily Mail, giving well-reasoned arguments why a bird should not have that stuff, and why the Daily Mail should not print it! Maybe if we all do it, one of them will actually get published, and get the word out there to contradict the story, and warn readers.

i own skye and do not see what the big problem is! this was printed without my knowledge and they have made alot of money out of stealing pictures from my fb! my budgie has a hapy life and gets to roam the house with loads of toys so what exactly is the problem?

As someone who has gone through nursing school, I can tell you, MANY of the people I went to school with weren't very bright. They all passed.

The problem is giving your beloved budgie something that can
kill him. And doing a story about it (with or without your consent )
is just so wrong !
You wouldn't give a baby alcohol , would you ? Well, that's what a
bird is , a baby !!
You didn't know that alcohol is toxic to birds ?

That story is going to put the wrong message out to people that its OK
to give a bird alcohol and you can get your face in the paper too !

And , your a nursing student ? Someone I would think that should
know better ! I would think someone who is dedicating themself to take care of others would have the same feelings towards animals.
I hope you can understand the severity of this and at least
stop giving your budgie alcohol.
Hopefully a letter can be written to the paper explaining the proper diet
for a budgie and might as well throw in what is toxic to them as well.

This is just a ridiculous action on your part , enough said :(
