Lukah- Sun Conure, 10 months old!
Hi guys! I'm asking for some just for fun speculating here!

Lukah is about 9 months old, so he should be coming of age around now :) That smiley face is misleading because man is he hormonal! (I think) So here's a few of the behavior changes I've noticed...

He screams more. He does head bobbing regurgitation more often. He will get possessive and grab my finger and hold onto it when I go to pet him- like he owns me haha.

And here's the really weird one (or maybe not weird at all, I'm not very experienced). He has a hut in his cage. It looks like this except bigger and not exactly the same Small Tet Tent Bird Haven Bird Bed
So he never had any interest in it and then last night and tonight, as soon as it starts getting dark, he gets inside and starts taking all his foot toys out of it and then just chills in there doing I have no idea what and chatting to himself. Then when I come up to pet him he will run to the opening and attack my fingers (not biting hard, just kid of lunging at it)

So here's where I want your speculation... is this normal for a male? Or is Lukah maybe a girl? Is he gonna lay an egg?! haha

Both males and females will protect their nest! It might be wise for you to remove the happy hut right now to prevent further aggression.

Oh good! So he might still be a boy! Haha I was worried he was gonna lay an egg! (Though he still might!)

I left it in because right now he is only going in it right before bed and not actually attacking or anything, just doing that silly adorable intimidation thing where he puffs up and moves his head in circles:)

As he/she matures more, that may change! Just be aware of the happy hut issue and remove it if you must.
