Parrots
Amy a Blue Front 'Zon
Jonesy a Goffins 'Too who had to be rehomed :-(

And a Normal Grey Cockatiel named BB who came home with me on 5/20/2016.
Amy is stripping his cloths off..I've been finding a couple rudder and sleeves in his house and on the floor...pretty big ones too. Tonight I went to change his basement papers, like I've done a BAZILLION times before and WHAM!!CHOMP!! he almost amputated my arm off! right by the elbow, and he DUG IN!
It was totally unexpected. I always kind of squat down while removing the papers coz he has done this before. I was so freaked out that when I pulled my arm out of his cage,he was HANGING from my arm with his top beaky firmly dug into my flesh, his little feeties waving frantically in the air along with his arms,as MY blood went squirt squirt on the living room floor
That freaking HURT!
I got him back in his house and tried to stop the bleeding while he pranced about his house, rudder way flaired and those red/orange eyeballs flashing and his head all poofy. He's p.o. about something and I have no clue.
Looks like he can stay where he is for the night and have a good think on what he did to his Dad!

Ouch Jim! Tango is also dropping feathers and very grouchy these days. She bit my ear last night for no obvious reason and made me yelp and bleed a bit. Thankfully Tango is a GCC and not an amazon like Amy or I’d be missing a lobe.

Not thinking natural Hormone season. Possible that a missed good night of sleep or like event has him ramped-up. Or, he was out mussing the concepts of the Amazone and you woke him up from his nap! :D

Rule #1 of living with an Amazon! Trust, but Verify - when skin and beak are anyplace close to each other.

Sorry to hear about the pain!

Jim, 'Boats is right, its not natural hormone season. THink hard - what changed in the day or 2 before Amy acted out? Played w/beebee more than normal? Up late? lottsa TV noise? New food? New toys? Less toys?

Al you prolly hit the nail square on the head with that. I actually thought about that myself after the incident. Usually one bird is out at a time and BB has been out more than Amy so I'm guessing he was p.o. about that...like "HEY!!! ITS MY TURN!!"

Scott...yes it has been unbearable with the heat and humidity here the last week or so,but the house has a/c...not sure that would affect his mood or not:confused:

Poor Amy. How dare you stick a foreign object (arm) in his cage when he's suffering from heat stroke and rejection?:D Hope he's feeling better. Btw, has your arm stopped bleeding yet Jim? :D. The rule is: 'the fids are always right' Jim. ;)

Some amazons are part Pit Bull. Sorry to hear you got ripped up.

Bingo got me bad a few weeks ago. My fault entirely. Playing with him with an empty pill bottle. Hand got to close and he went for the “soft target “.
