Hi everyone!! :green1:

I'm new here (obviously, lol) and just wanna say I'm really excited to get to know some of you guys and learn lots more about birds!

I don't have any lil' guys at the moment, but I am hopefully going to get a Green Cheek Conure soon! (Actually, if anyone has suggestions on where to get one, let me know?) I'm very excited :)

That's about it for now!

Welcome! These nice folks will give you lots of great advice about the bird that chooses you.

Where are you located? That might help folks point you in good directions.

I love my little GCC. He's very cuddly and funny.

I love the fact that their like big birds, but in a small body! Their amazing creatures.

I'm located in Minnesota, but I am willing to travel to Wisconsin/North Dakota if needed! I would also look into shipping a bird here, though I am slightly wary about that - especially if I hadn't met the little guy yet. :p

Hi there! It's great to meet you, and welcome to the parrot forums. GCCs are a great choice for a first time parront! Love those GCCs! :)

Welcome to the forums, hope we can be of assistance!

Generally speaking, parrots are available at rescue facilities, through private purchases, breeders, and pet shops. The options available to you will be highly dependent on your location and desires.

If you have the time and inclination, visiting or volunteering at a rescue will allow the observation and handling of multiple species, as well as learning all aspects of living with parrots. You may wind up adopting a conure or other species! Every other option involves researching and visiting various locations. An interesting anecdote is that the bird will often choose the owner. This is especially true in an environment with many birds vying for attention.

Please scan the forums for a well-rounded dose of information. Feel free to ask questions!
