mikki- barrarand x king parrot
21yrs young ;)
So it's 10.30pm and I'm giving pheonix his last feed for the day
tube down throat and one syringe finished I go to swap syringes and he starts wriggling just as I go to pull the tube out he head buts my fingers and swallows the whole tube

Aghhhh totally freaking out I can't see it can't feel it what am
I going to do
luckily he wasn't chocking or anything so that helped the situation but not my nerves I was a crying panicing mess
next sexing he comes up to my hand bobs his head a little and spits it up

O thank heavens :)
I was soooo paniced there are no late night vets in my area the nearest is an hour away and have no bird knowledge

Anyways good news is he got it out and after many appologise and cuddles the little fellow is doing just fine

Lesson learned : it may cause extra discomfort but take tube out between syringes it's better in the long run

Sexing ???? Minute sorry

Wow sounds like it really frightened you and understandably so. That is probably why you kind of lost sense of the forum expectations in writing your thread title, yes? Glad your baby is okay and that you didn't have a heart attack yourself. Your close call may keep another bird parront from the same mistake. Thanks for sharing it.

Yes I didn't really know what to put as title sorry

Were both ok now though thank goodness

Very scary. I have never had the guts to start a bird from the beginning and admire all you brave souls who do it.

Glad he is ok. Why are you tube feeding and not syringe feeding?

Unfort I didn't do enough research into my breeder as he had been recomended to me via a very reputable breeder
so after 4 hrs on a bus to go get him I find out his idea of syringe feeding is actually tube feeding
I asked him about it and he assured me he would take a syringe but no such luck so I'm afraid it's what I have to do for now

I hate it but if it gets my baby out of a bad situation with the breeder
it keeps him fed happy and healthy then I'm willing to do it

So you thought you would just blaspheme and swear on a public forum where there are young people logging in everyday??? You have shown a lack of respect for other people's beliefs and been rude by swearing. WHAT WERE YOU THINKING???

No ones perfect but the comment above just shows your total lack of concern for formality. Im shocked PR, absolutely shocked!!!! I have never ever pushed my spiritual beliefs on anyone on this forum but I will stand up and fight for my beliefs if they are in any way disrespected publicly.

I am with you on that one Barbara, but I think it has to do with way more than just having the guts.

I admire those who do research FIRST, those who learn FIRST. If you cant deal with a parrot that has behavioral issues then you certainly should not have a baby's life in your hands.

Just my opinion.
