I really love to hear about other people's holiday traditions. I think they really make the holidays special, and I love how they get passed from generation to generation.
We have always opened presents on Christmas morning and have our dinner that day.Christmas Eve is always an assortment of finger foods, appetizers and mini sandwiches, and watching It's a Wonderful Life.

We also have a gag gift tradition. My sister absolutely hated white Christmas lights when we were growing up, she loved only the coloured ones. So one year my Aunt who raised us wrapped 1 white Christmas bulb and put it in her stocking. We have given that exact same light back and forth between the family ever since, and that has been 47 years now. It's always fun to see who is getting it each year, and it is always wrapped differently, in different size boxes. We do it by mail now since I live so far away, and my Aunt has been gone many years now. But she is still with us with every wrapping, and every opening of that light.

What traditions do y'all have?

I had two Sisters one younger one older and a older Brother. 4 Children I imagine were a handful to my Parents at Christmas. We lived in a Great Neighborhood. LOTS of children. I remember The first Christmas Eve I could hear Bells. My Dad yelled Oh No It's Santa and all 4 of us hit the bed lol. Someone from the Neighborhood would run around and jingle bells outside of everyone home. Causing all the children to run to bed. This worked for a long time lol. I lived in the Country when My son came along but told a Member of the Church and they all thought it was a great idea. The tradition spread. Still makes me smile to hear bells ring .

That's an awesome tradition! I'm going to mention that to my daughter, who is having her first baby:)

We have a Christmas Eve waffle dinner. My brother makes mammoth sized waffles! Its a blast.

This is not my tradition but a co-workers. I just thought it was a good one to share.

Every Christmas Eve they were allowed to open one box each. These boxes were special ones that were placed not under the tree but on there beds. After Dinner they were all excited knowing that box had been placed there while they ate. Inside every single year was a new pair of P'J's Slippers a new Christmas movie and snacks. The girl that shared this with me is in her 20's . She still spends Christmas Eve with her Parents and she still finds that box on her bed at Christmas Eve after Dinner .
