Holiday Bird Garland?

I'd like to make some sort of edible and shredable garland for the birds this year. I need ideas for safe materials- both for the garland itself and the stuff to string on it. Any ideas?

Yummy! You could also add star anise for some added decoration and shreddability (sp)

As far as what to use to hang it. Im not sure.

How about cinnamon sticks as well as the popcorn and cranberries

What about grape vine? Attach stuff to that? For bigger birds though.
