Hi, everyone! I'm a young bird owner from southern Idaho, and with owning three birds, I knew I could get help here, especially with the situation my Cockatiel is in.

Here's some pics of my babies. :)

Here's my first Parakeet, Harmony. Got her at Petsmart. Learned to never make that mistake again. (She's still not quite tame, which is why she's in the cage.)

Momiji-kun, who I bought at Parrots n' stuff, a proffesional parrot-breeding store in my location.

And last, but not least, this is our cockatiel, Big Bird. (Yes, he is named after the sesame street character. :)

We just got him today by some flaky motor-home family that was getting rid of him on Craigslist. He came with a pitifully small cage (Not even 1' by 1'! That thing isn't even fit for my keets!) that was caked with poo and rust, and not only that, but his wing was broken. Or, atleast, that's what we think. You might be able to tell by the odd angle he's holding it at. We already got him a vet appointment for tomorrow morning, but it sickens me anyone would just sell their bird because they didn't want to pay for the vet bill. I'm guessing they broke it when they were clipping his wings. He's also a feather plucker, as I can tell by the frayed ends of his flight and tail feathers and the unusual amounts of preening he does. But we're also buying him a bigger cage tomorrow when we're out, so he'll hopefully be better.

Anyway, I'm happy to be here! :) See you all around!

Awww poor guy, Im so glad you got him away from those people. Anyone that can treat an innocent creature that way deserves whatever bad things come their way. Makes me sooo angry. Well anyway, welcome to the forum and thank you for helping this baby. Keep us posted on his condition.

Thank you for helping this bird. Saving one animals' life will not change the world....but for that one animal, the world is changed forever!

Welcome to the forum, thank you for rescuing the bird. I hope his vet check goes well :)

Hi Dragon. Welcome from me and Pritti. This is a great place for learning and for sharing stories.

It's wonderful that you saved that bird from what sounds like a life of horror. Pour on the love to make up for lost time. That birdie needs u.

Thanks for the welcomes. :) I have some news... It turns out his wing isn't broken, but it used to be and healed the wrong way. The only way to fix it would be to rebreak it, and of course I didn't want to do that to the poor baby. :( So he'll never be able to fly correctly.

Anyways, just came back from shopping! Here are some more pics of him! :D

Here, he's chewing on a carrot slice (You can see his lame wing in this one)

So, yeah! Big bird is so sweet; when he was in the vet's office, he climbed on the Doctor's glasses. XD. I'm just happy he's okay. I also noticed he loves to have his head petted; he'll bend his neck down to tell us. :) So, no worries! :D
