Hi! Hello! Hi!

If that sounded awkward, well that's because I am! But that's beside the point. My name is Shyloh, I'm 25 and have been a bird lover for as long as I can remember. Growing up I had a budgie, and then a cockatiel. Sadly neither were very well trained, mainly because my parents didn't know any better.

I've just recently, as in yesterday, brought home my new feathered friend, a 3 month old green cheek conure named Mika. I've never had a conure and quite frankly hadn't even realized that technically I'd owned a parrot before...But I'm really excited.

I've been through a lot of horrible things and frequently find myself as being lonely, so on top of wanting to give Mika a good home, I also was hoping that having a new companion would help me out too.

I can't wait to share about Mika as the little nut grows and or course learn about the GCC as I go.

Welcome to the forums, Shyloh!! A GCC is a great choice for a new parrot, and you should find Mika a great friend and companion. Animals are so unconditional with their love!

Just wanted to say thank you for the welcome! I just love how friendly everyone is! I'm having a blast with Mika so far, definitely different than the other birds I've had, but in a good way.

Here's a picture from yesterday, about an hour of being home and Mika was already all over the place. Loves to sit at my window and will run circles around the cage, come to where I am and squawk. And repeat.
