Well i just rescued a Cockatoo. The poor bird was being kept in HORRIBLE conditions, dirty, no food or water, well the dish looked like soup! I brought him home to find out how friendly Alfie my TOO is! Poor bird would have had a chance with the old owner! The guy was going to take him to the pound if i didnt take him. Im a bird lover, with 8 budgies that i also rescued already in the past couple years and have owned a CAG in the past. This being my first cockatoo, i was hoping that some of you's can give me some pointers! Thanks alot. Looking forward to hearing from yous.

John.

Thanks, No i didnt name him that was his name, owner says they had the bird 15years and it's always been Alfie, and he knows his name so it works lol. Thanks again. I hope i can get some cockatoo pro's on here to help me out. His feathers dont look all that great, maybe molting? Mites? Not sure, but it doesnt look like beak and feather disease so it shouldnt be too bad. Ill try to post some pix soon. Thanks again!

Welcome and Good Luck with your new companion!

Hi, I am also new to the forum.
I have a little goffin that I rescued about 6 months ago. He was also living in pretty sad conditions. He had been plucking for a while. I am so delighted with him. He is the sweetest little guy, and has brought a new form of love and happiness to my home. He's getting his feathers back and fattening up nicely.
I'm sure your little goffin will bring you great happiness as well. All they really want is lots of love and attention, you'll get it back ten fold.
congrads!

Wonderful to have you joining us, great forum and fantastic info available.
Great that you rescued the bird. :)
Sure sounds like he has made himself at home.
Getting his feathers back and fattening up, you are doing a wonderful job.
Got a name for him yet, know how old he is?

Hi there John, welcome on board.
Glad you rescued that poor bird, you will be greatly rewarded. :)
Browse around, so much available on this forum
Share some pictures, we love pic's.
Bye for now

My goffin's name is rufus, he was already named. I believe he is about 4 years old. The people I got him from really didn't know, but as far as I could tell I'd say that is close.
I just love him so much. He is my second goffin rescue. The last one I found was in worse shape than my little rufus. I gave him to a lady that already had one bird, and wanted a companion for him. He is doing great also.
