HI! New GC Conure Owner

Hello everyone!

My name is Adrienne, and I have had my lil guy for 2 weeks now. He is 5 months old and I am a little concerned.

I read that green cheek conures are very cuddly and playful. However "Stinker" isn't that much. Actually, he doesn't play that much. His favorite pass time is eating.

He is well adapted to handling, however he mostly just likes to sit on my finger and stare at me. I have taught him a few tricks that he picked up immediately.

Any suggestions on what may be going on and anything that I can do to get him to play, cuddle and have fun?

Lilo isn't playful either. But I kind of taught her to play. Its monkey see and monkey do. You play and laugh, he will laugh and play! Also you just got him so he is still adjusting. hope this helps!

Many birds, although they may be sold as hand fed/raised, they may or may not be very sociable, it all depends on how much time their breeder spends socializing them and if that breeder has not taught them how to play with toys, the eventual owner often finds that falls on them.....

Yes, play with your gcc and he will learn. Ours was like that but has now begun to come out of his shell. Now, he is almost overboard playing with EVERYTHING! Ha! He loves to make messes...
