Hi Everyone!

My name is Lisa and I am the very proud new Mama to a 7 week old CAG, named Maui! I'm hoping to learn a thing or two from you guys. Although, I've always had birds, I've never had a Grey before, but have always wanted one. My Mom has had larger breed birds in the past, so I'm familiar with parrots, just never owned any of my own, my birds have always been small lovebirds, cockatiels, rosellas, finches, etc...
Maui has brought such sunshine to my life, he is my baby, my friend and I love him so very much. Even my husband is CRAZY about this baby, and he's not ever really been a "bird person" per say. I'm excited about a lifetime of wonder with him and am eager to learn as much as I can about what is the very best way to take care of him.:)

Awesome Lisa
lots of great people on here with great info
never be worried about asking a question you may think is silly
we all need to learn and I'm sure as your reading thru old posts you'll find plenty of so called stupid questions

I take it that your hand raising Maui still which is great as will help him bond better
make sure both yourself and hubby handle him lots as to not cause over bonding to one person

Once again welcome
glad to have another bird brain join the forum
and if course we would all love pics please

Congratulations, Lisa!

They are so sweet and innocent at that age.

If you think he's your buddy right now, just wait a couple of years. Maui's going to have a hold on your heart that will never be broken.

Welcome Lisa and congrats! Being that this is a bird forum, I have to ask, are you experienced with handfeeding? And how is he doing? We love pics here!

HI Lisa, glad you found the forum alright :), super place to be, great members, many of whom are also owned by CAG's, this forum is very active with great info, advice and sharing of experiences, as well as being really fun and goofy at times......by the way they love pics of others fids(fid=feathered kid) on here, so if you have any they would very much be appreciated, kick off your shoes, let your hair down and have a great time, enjoy the ride!

Hi Lisa and welcome to you and Maui!
You have found a forum with a lot of CAG "parronts ". Check out some of Antoinette's threads with baby pictures of her fid Mishka. She is a great resource just by herself but there are many others. Don't be shy and query whenever we use abbreviations that aren't clear or you have technical questions about the forum. (I speak from experience because I didn't want to admit at first that I didn't know an IRN from a GCC and hadn't a clue how to upload pictures.) But with a baby on your hands your primary focus needs to be feeding socializing and bonding with you and your spouse. There are a number of members who can really help you with questions there. Also we are all supporters of the Parrots For Dummies book. It has lots of useful info and a big help to me when I foster larger birds as my own fids are conures and keets.

Hi, Yes, I am an experienced hand feeder. My folks raised birds most of my life and I helped her on many occasions hand rear the clutches. It's been several years since I've done it and was a wee nervous at first, but now all is well. Maui is doing fantastic!! He's quite the chunky thing for his age, weighing 440 grams last week at 6 weeks old. I will weigh him again on Wednesday.

I'm very excited about all that's about to come our way with Maui. My husband and I are just so in love with this little guy!! Hawaii is our favorite place to vacation, therefore I wanted to name him after that some how, because it represents such sunshine and happiness and peace and love for us, Kuwai is actually my favorite Island, but felt it was a little bit difficult to use as a name, therefore, we decided on "Maui" pronounced "Mow-wee"

Wow he sure weighs a lot for a little guy of 6 weeks.
Mishka is now almost 3 years old and weighs in at 440 grams.
What kind of a scale are you using?

Hi ya Bobby,

Quick Question... Were you still interested at all in buying Tubok? I have had a couple of phone calls, but nothing really serious as of yet, and I just feel so terrible for him, poor little thing is lonely. Please let me know if you'd still like to purchase him and I will give you directions on how to get to my place so that you can cop a gander at him:)

CONGRATULATIONS! I really want an African Grey too! I have a rescue Eclectus who I adore. ~Page
