mustache parakeet
I am new here. I have a 14year old mustache parakeet "Louie". He became a family member about 4years ago. He has had two other parents. The last one being my dad that just didnt have the room in his new place for the cage. Anyway the transition was good. I spent a lot of time sitting in front of his cage talking to him. Louie loves to talk and whistle. He says quite a few words. Favorites are "Whatcha doing" and "Such a good boy". Ive always loved birds and this is my first one. I have three dogs and 5 cats. My human family is 11yr old and 9yr old. My husband and Louie do not get a long very well. Louie loves to peck and bite him. But cant wait for daddy to come home and give him treats. Fruit Loops are his fav. So being the good mommy I give him bannana chips. Louie gets lots of open cage time where he can climb all over his cage. I dont know anyone else who has birds so I am looking forward to meeting new bird lovers.:)

hello and welcome!
i used to have a moustache parakeet named Pandora. she was a beauty but she was extremely loud and yakky. she was not tame or talking. my husband complained as he could not watch TV with her noise. she now has a great home with a male moustache named Kiwi who talks. wonder what he thinks of this new crazy gal!
can't wait to see pics of Louie! they are such striking birds to look at. their heads remind me of opals, so many iridescent colors!
i miss my crazy Pandora but i know she has a great home now.
i now have an IRN who can be noisy at times but guess what, she's staying!

All the grass keets are sooo cute!!! Good luck with her and welcome to the forum!!!
