Hi I'm Laura from Florida. I have a beautiful blue quaker named Neptune, and today I just rescued a green quaker from a terrible situation, a filthy cage, only sunflower seeds, a tiny Finch cage, feathers plucked...but I've only had her a few hours and we have snuggled, gave her a Spritz bath, she ate some broccoli, in a nice bug cage. Abd I named her Penny. I also have a six year old cinnamon teal greencgeeck conure named Ta-dah. And I was given two parakeets of unknown age. So a full on flock lol.

THANK you for rescuing ths bird in need!
You DO have a sizeable flock.
We'll look forward to sharing your journey.
This is a great place for sharing and learning about diet, cages, adding birds, handling...
I'm glad you're here.

Hi galleria Gila! What a beautiful bird!!! I have never seen one before! Where ever did you come across him? What is his personality like? Yes it's a full on flock, that's why I hesitated to rescue Penny today, but my best friend and mom assured me I had to rescue this poor pitiful girl. I'm home full time, I had a spare big cage, and I was a veterinary technician for twenty years specialist in exotic animals and birds :) I had my first conure for 17 years, she recently passed away a shortened life from a beak birthdefect......I am very devoted to my flock and joined beci there is always more to learn, abd ways to improve our parrots lives. I'm so happy to meet like minded people! And share the passion and adventure of our parrot friends.

Thanks David, north Florida representing here! GCC were my first birds. So much spunk, such good cuddlers! Toys have not been of much interest to mine until I read that they live to untie knots!!! As soon as I started putting knotted Paracord in my cages I found out it is true for my girl too!!! She absolutely loves to untie knots!!! I know get the side eye telling me I need to up my game, she says these knots are too easy mom. But she like to untie when I'm not watching, then stand proudly by them. What toys do yours like? My Quaker on the other hand plays with every toy every day, he is never afraid if new toys either, it's always give me that now!

Welcome and be welcomed. Beautiful flock you have there. My Salty is the same as your Neptune - new toy? Gimme, gimme with no hesitation.

Welcome to you and your flock! Thank you, thank you for rescuing the green Quaker from the bad situation, you're a true gem!

Welcome and thank you! Glad to know these birds are in a better living situation!

Hi Laurasea, welcome to the community! I'm so glad you found us, and what an awesome little flock you have! Actually, your flock is very similar to my own, as I have both a 3 year-old blue Quaker, a 2 year-old Yellow-Sided Green Cheek, and now 11 Budgies that I bred/hand-raised myself! (I also have a year and a half old Senegal and a 4 year-old Cockatiel, along with 5 remaining English and American Budgies who were breeders that I retired about 4 years ago, I sent the other 20 to a sanctuary to live-out the rest of their days, the 5 I still have were not able to be taken-in by the sanctuary, so they are living out their years inside of my indoor-aviary located in the walk-out floor of my house). So we have very similar flocks!

Don't ever hesitate to ask any and all questions you might have, nor to share all of your fid's stories and photos with us!
