Hi Im new! :)

So im katie! To start off I was given a B&G Macaw from my Uncle. His wife and him retired bought an RV, selling their house and wll be traveling around the states. So they made the decison to part with her so she isnt put under the stress. We recieved her exactly a week ago now, I live in NY, and my uncle lives in Maryland, so we had to meet half way in Pennslyvania to get her. A little about the bird, Its a girl, her name is KoKo! (avatar pic) She is 26 years old. I am now her 3rd family. My uncle obtained her when she was 16, and badley neglected. Her first owners were elderly and couldnt take care of her so she was a plucker, her neck/stomach/shoulders were completely bald. Over the past 10 years my uncle had her, all of her feathers grew back on her tummy and shoulders, but as far as her neck, they never grew back, sadly I think it was so severe she damaged the folicles. I was so sad when I recieved her from my uncle because they were very close, it was a sad/happy day for all of us. She has been adapting nicely, but I know it wll take some time for her to gan our trust. I have many questions, but I will wait and post in the approprate area

Hi Katie and Ko-Ko! Welcome to the forum, I'm new too! Have only joined for a out 3 weeks and have learnt so much already...lots of great pics and funny stories too! I live in Sydney Australia and have a make eclectus called 'boogie', have had him for 5 years ( bought from a reputable breeder as a baby) and having a bird in my life has changed everything! For the better! You are a kind and amazing person to take Ko-Ko in to your home and heart, I hope you will bond and enjoy many years together. I look forward to hearing more about you both.....
