Hello,
I'm a new bird owner. I was told he is a he and is a Yellow-Headed Amazon about 10 years old. We purchased him from the people who were moving out of our new house. I've always wanted an Amazon and they didn't want to stress him by moving him back to Colorado (we're in Raleigh, NC). When we were looking at the house I introduced myself to him. He walked right up onto my shoulder and gave me loves and hugs. I was in LOVE!! So I got my bird! I'm so excited! I've had him for about a month now.
I've only had one bird before and that was a small quaker parrot that I rescued from a backyard cat breeder. I came home from work one day and he was lying on the bottom of his cage - just gone. It broke my heart. I did everything the books said to do. I have no idea what happened. I only had him for a few months...
That was years ago and now my heart is ready to love an other one. Billie is his name. he is so darn smart! I am excited to be part of this community! I have questions, so I'll post those in different threads.
