I found this sight looking for answers on my B&G Macaw. Very interesting and helpful sight!
I Just brought home my Sparky yesterday. A friend of mine had him and she wasn't happy with him(her boyfriend brought him home, and she is not an animal person)
Sparky is 10 yrs old, from what we were told. Very loving and loud (lol) fella. He is my first. Has came with a huge cage and a couple of toys, so I have been finding different toys to add to his new home.
He is adapting quite well! He has bit a couple of times, not bad though, I figured it was all the changes and he just needs to get comfortable, and he has already! He likes taking walks through the house, looking outside, playing with our dog (and that is really cute! My dog is a pitbull!!) We keep them separated by a cage, one or the other is always inside, but the other will go up to the cage and they just start playing. My pit actually wanted to sleep by his cage last night...and was upset when I made him go to his bed!
Sparky has a vocabulary, and we have only heard a little of it so far, but he does like it and calms down when he is upset, when he hears me sing. Poor bird, because I can't sing, but he likes it.
I look forward to learning more and being a great momma for sparky!
