i have one alexandrine
hi my name is jessika i am 18 yrs old and i have a Alexandrine, his/ her name is GB.
i have had him/ Her for about 2-3 months and hes starting to get aggressive and trys to bite me every time i go near him/ her. he/ she is stating to growl at me and my family when we walk past him/ her. we had him/ her out side for a while but once he/ she started to act like this i brought him/ her inside. i dont know what i am doing or what to do. can any one help???
I wanted to tame him/ her and have a calm family member but once he/ she started this i became affaide of him/ her as when they bite it kind of really hurts. lol.
Once i learn how to use this properly i will put up photos of him/ her and his/ her cage and if any one can give me a rough idea of his/ her age and if he/ she is a girl or boy would be a great help :)

Aggression can be territorial!!!! He may think that your invading his territory. I had a bird that did this, but once away from his cage he was fine. You should never act like your afraid of him cause they will sense it and dominate over you. My macaw tried that with me but it doesn't work with me cause I don't back down. So he knows im the dominant one. Is there a specific toy he likes or he just get mean when your close to his cage?

yeh most of the time he is fine when we are not near him. but every now and then he seems to just attac his toys. i dont no if this is just him playing but it looks very visouse so yeh. and he only gets mean when i get close to his cage.

He's protective of his house. Have you tried to let him out and get him onto a perch. Then bring him towards you. Sometimes away from their house they act better.

hi jessica, see my reply to your other post asking for help. Your bird is still young, but is appproaching "teenage" this often involves some aggression. It's important that you respond in the right way to make sure it doesn't get worse. Try to spend as much time with your bird as you can, if he/she doesn't want to come out of their cage, just sit next to it and talk to him/her, or even just read a book or watch TV with him/her nearby. This will help remind your bird that you mean him/her no harm and will make it eaiser to appproach him/her next time. Offer treats through the bars of the cage if GB won't come to your hand when you put it in the cage. My Alex loves apples! Be patient, and try not to let him scare you. he/she wants a reaction from you when he/she is being aggressive, if you show none, GB will learn that it's not worth the effort and you catch more flies with honey than vinegar!

Jawx, sometimes it is territorial aggression. My bird was about 5 yrs old when he started. He was living with my grandma at the time. But once he was away from his cage he was fine. It can be age like your saying too of course. All the hormones....lol
