My first experience with birds was with a budgie my school had when I was in early gradeschool. They weren't treated well (uneducated care takers), so they never lived too long 
20 years later I ended up with a budgie by accident: a rescue from the wild that friend caught and gave to the animal shelter. I had to give it a home! Then, eventually, came three other birds to keep her company and stimulate activity. Now we have given up our dining table for the birds and now they have their own room... And now we have no dining room.
Next step is to give up the rest of the house so we can rescue some bigger birds :32:
