RIP Charlie, Green Cheek Conure,
Lelu, parrotlet and
Poe the budgie.
Hi I own a green cheek conure who is a bit of a rescue. We've had him just over a month and he's a good boy but we are having some issues so I'm hoping to get advice on here. He lived in a cockatiel cage that was too small with only one small toy and it doesn't look like he'd ever had a cage cleaning. Ate only pellets (and is slowly getting to like veg and fruit) but is a friendly, curious guy. After a few weeks, he got super sick (we think from his old, bad conditions - the cage had mold in it!) but has recovered. Now he's chewing some feathers (gahh!) but he is busy and seems happy. His favorite words are "good Charlie" which he uses when he's excited such as in the morning when we uncover his cage, or come home (although then he usually screams Charlie!). He says good boy and is starting to say good morning, up, and poop (trying to toilet train him). He is learning some tricks and is behaving much better than when we first got him with step ups and not climbing onto shoulders (quick learner!). He likes to chew almost anything except vegetables. We're not sure how old he is, the previous owner said he was about a year and a half, the vet said he's either older than that or has had a rough two years. i am trying to trace his band number but that suggests that he's only a year old so it makes me sad to think that he was so mistreated.
I've been stalking the forum since before we adopted him but now have questions and look forward to participating.
