I am going to be a new parrot owner after a week or two or three or four... .But i am going to get one and it is going to be a budgie:blue2:.So i wanted to get all the information i can and so i joined this site. Right now i have a green budgie named Alex of my friend. He dropped alex just yesterday and he has not eaten anything. He is sitting like a statue and worrying me. I had two ringnecks before and none of them acted this way:(
I hav to return alex a week later and i definately dont want to return a sick bird:confused:

Hi welcome. This is a great place to come and learn about parrots including budgies!

I think Alex is just not hungry right now because he is a little stressed out from being away from his house. Is he still in his regular cage? What is your friend having you feed Alex? Trying some millet might work wonders in getting a budgie to eat. It's not very nutritious, but it will fill his stomach at least, so he won't lose too much weight if he's not eating at all.

I love budgies. They're adorable and funny, and much smarter than they're given credit for :).

A budgie I had clung to the side of his cage frozen for an entire day when I first got him. He was stressed out from the move to a new environment. The next day he started moving and eating:). Perhaps your friend's budgie is also stressed. As RavensGryf suggested try millet!
