Just to say hi to you all, hopefully a soon to be about to a mumma to a feather-kid for the first time.
I have wanted a parrot for a long time but with working part-time i didnt think it was fair to, but now work part time from home. We also have 2 english bull terriers & 5 cats also.
Hopefully i can read & learn a lot from you all:)

Hey tina welcome to our forum. Cats usually get along with birds once they realize they are family. Will you be wanting a baby or a rescue? Is there one species you have your eye on??

Hi, i contacted a rescue but didnt seem impressed when i mentioned i had 5 cats & 2 bullies.
Went to see a 6yr old blue & gold macaw today, i have posted for advice in the macaw section. But not made my mind up yet, she is beautiful and would love to give her a wonderful lovin home, but not sure if i would be takin on to much to handle/cope with, with her being 6 years old.

Welcome to the forum. If this is your first bird I strongly suggest you don't get a macaw. They go through a blurring stage that most people cant handle and if you don't teach them then, they will become dominant over you. Plus they are extremely loud. Please think long and hard before you get a macaw, a large macaw that is. If you want a macaw try a mini-macaw such as a hahns macaw.

Hi and welcome to the forum. Good luck with your decision on which parrot to get. Keep us informed. There are a lot of people here who can give good advice on the care of the new Fid you end up with.
