We just became owners of our two new family members due to their owner suddenly passing away very young. We love them and are trying hard to do what's right for the birds. Pepe the grey came to us with only feathers on his head, fluff on his body and wings and no pretty tail feathers. He talks a lot and learns new things daily. She loves to be touched and has finally allowed me to hold her a few times! Has nice big stainless cage with perch area on top. Lots of toys to shred and play with. She has been with us about 5 weeks and has new red tail feathers coming in! Some feathers on her body too. Eats eggs for breakfast. Has high quality food and we offer lots of fresh fruits and veggies which she doesn't seem to like. All suggestions appreciated!

Lola is a boy and has beautiful feathers, is very friendly and loves baths! Lola will go to anyone and seems to be the easier of the two!

We have found a bird vet and plan to take them for a check up and get Lola's wings clipped. Look forward to learning from this group. Thanks for having me join!

Hello and welcome! I think it is fantastic that you took these 2 into your family, and I am so sorry for your loss.
Sounds like you are on the right track with them, but I wouldn't feed eggs every day to them. Hopefully they will start to eat the veggies soon:)
I'd love to see pictures of them, and good luck at the vet!
So glad you joined us!

Hello,

WELCOME!! You have joined a GREAT Group of Parrot lovers, Everyone here is so nice, and caring
So very nice of you to give the birds there new forever home, most people don't realize just how smart, loving, and special parrots are
If you don't mind me asking, how were you picked to become their new mommy?
Don't give up on Veggies, I got my bird to eat them by cooking them with macaroni (it took a while)

Welcome to the forum!!!!

There's many ways to get them to learn to eat fruits and veggies. You can use a food processor to mix them up. Some birds really do prefer that better.

We're happy to have you on the forum. My sympathy for your loss. So kind of you to give two birds a loving home. As mentioned, keep offering fruits and veggies in different ways, sometimes it takes a while but they will try it and learn to enjoy it. Looking forward to photos and updates.

Thank you so much for the warm welcome. Sadly the persons named in the will could not take the birds. We were going to the house twice a day to care for them while their dad was hospitalized. We felt we could put the time and love in to care for them. I believe their dad shines down on us and helps guide us on their care! Have really fallen in love with them. Just found out they have a pet trust so we are going to just turn that into a trust so their on going care will be provided in event something happens to us. Will keep trying to introduce veggies. Blown away how fast they learn! Pepe already has learned out four dogs names!

Hello again, They are easy to fall in love with, we are very lucky to share our lives with these intelligent majestic creatures

WOW, their owner had the foresight to set up a trust fund for them?

My three children and I live together, we just made a family decision to adopt a baby Green wing macaw into our family, as part of the decision process my children had to agree to make sure they keep the bird in the family

They do learn very fast and are very intelligent, they are just like five year old kids, and fourth on the list of intelligent animals, right below Dolphins, Chimps, and Elephants

We would all LOVE to see Pics or Video of them :)

Sounds like you are off to a GREAT start with them, Please keep us posted

Joe
