i got 1 green cheek cinnamon,a rose crowned,a yellow sided and a hybride from the first 2

Kiva
Fury
Pixel
Hope
Hi,

2 years ago my parents give me my first green cheek cinnamon for my birthday.
I had been reading up on them ,and they where perfect for me.
Her name is kiva she is not that playfull and likes to just sit somewhere and nap.
A month later my parents came home with a rose crowned conure male.
They thought that she was lonely.
He was named Fury cause he came out the box flying like a hellfury to our heads.
He broke out of his cage on day one to be with her.
It was instant love for those 2.
This year there were eggs ,i asked the breeder what to do.
But he said they would never come out because they where to diffrent mutations.
Well he was wrong about that.
Deep into the night i heard chilping ,thinking that Kiva was hurt i rushed to the cage and ripped the sleepingbox open.
Only to find an smug mother and a moving pink little bird.

Unfotunatly the litte bird got spaddle leg afther a week.
I asked some forums in my country, they are all runned by breeders.
The literal told me i should chuck her into a garbadge bin.
I was so angry about that and never came back to those forums hence i'm here.
I spend hours everday on her feet, thankfully her parents diddn't mind and would just sit by me and feed her if nessesary.
Afther she could fly i took her to an av ,only afther she was declared to be in full health i told her.
She could still not see anything.
This little bird is called Hope sinds i kept praying she would be alright.

Her father began a moth ago getting a bit to much interested in her.
And so again for my birthday i got an yellow sides green cheek male for her.
Becouse of his colouring in his neck i called him Pixel.
He got the most sweet puppy eyes you have ever seen.
Unfortunatly he is already 8 moths and is from an avairy.
So i got a lot of work cut out for me.

Thank you for taking the time to read this,
hacatta

That's a wonderful story! But I'm with a lot of breeders on this, I do not do hybrids and by you getting another mate for her, your asking for trouble. Please don't give them a nest box to breed in!!!

I was told that they need a box to sleep in,don't they?

No, if anything it will cause aggression and of course, breeding. Birds only use nests when they breed. They are perfectly fine sleeping on a perch as that is what they are evolved to do. Some people use happy huts for single pet birds, but having a potential space where a pair can nest is going to open up a whole can of worms.
Breeding is not something to be taken lightly, it's very hard on the female birds. Putting such a young female with a mate already will seal her fate, and she had problems from hatch. She will most likely pass those problems on. When birds breed they require a specific diet (females particularity). And if her father is interested in her he might be successful in mating with her which you definately don't want.

Thank you for the explanation .
I had asked about it before and never got an anwser on the other forums.
I will take them out when i come home.
Lol just bought new ones last week.
But without will they not breed?
I must admit i was really worried that there where going to be eggs again.
I was told to just shake them or change them with plastic ones.
But doesn't that affect there mental health over the years?
I didn't have to do it yet ,thank god.
But really thank you you are the first person who took the time to explain it to me.

It doesn't mean they wouldn't try to breed without a nest box but less likely that it will happen without one. It could still happen where they lay it on the bottom of the cage.

i do have an grate between the bottem and up.
Would she try to lay her eggs on that or would she try to hold it in(if that is possible)and should i take it out in case that. happens

They can lay on the grate. If you don't want to promote hybrids then don't even allow her to incubate. No need to remove the grate and just replace with fake eggs if she does try.

I will remove the eegs and replace them if needed.
I don't want to have more birds.
And i will not let them hatch ever.
It has been made clear that that is never to happen.
I'm really glad i got to know about this site.
In just 2 days ,you guys helped me more that the forums in my country.

Your very welcome! That's why we're here for!!!! ;)
