Guillermo "Memo" - Yellow-Sided Green Cheek Conure
(Hatched 9/23/10, Home 12/20/10)
Hi all, from NYC!

I just joined the Forum after months of following all the stories and information and it has been really valuable to me. My new baby is still being raised by his Mom and Dad and co-parented by an amazing breeder. He is a Green Cheek Conure (Yellow-Sided or possibly Pineapple) and should be ready to come home late-November to early-December. I have not picked him yet, he is one of 5 and I am loving the photos I get to see as he grows and changes. Its amazing!

So, as I am sure many can relate... I am thinking, obsessing, planning, and shopping... Its a lot of fun.

Right now I am preparing myself to adjust my household of people and pets to welcome a new addition...

Thanks for all the good information and I am so happy to be part of this Forum.

Thanks, My parrot experience is limited to an Amazon my older siblings had growing up, and cockatiels my mom and sister have now. My first hand knowledge is next to nothing. About 2 months ago I caught the bird bug after a nice visit to a bird store followed by meeting a maroon-bellied conure at work. I can say honestly and proudly that my pets are my life and I am looking forward to what a feathered-baby will add. Now I am planning my routine and working to start off on the right foot...

No questions yet, really, but I know they will be coming...

Thanks again all....

Happy to have you with us. It is such a wise choice to study and prepare before you bring the bird home. So much to learn and so much joy.

So... What was the hardest part after bringing them home? And aside from the Husband, Kids, and Horse we have the similar household... What's your usual schedule?

The daily schedule and routine is foremost on my mind right now...

Welcome to the forum! We are all happy to meet you :)
I would like to get a GCC in the near future.

Having a routine is an excellent idea. Birds like consistency in their lives.
