Hello everyone! My name is Katrina and I currently reside in Colorado with my military husband and our two children.

I don't currently have a parrot, but we are looking into getting one and I just want to know what I am getting into long before we bring one home. I have read numerous parrot books, and I just know that nothing can compare to hearing stories from those already owned by parrots.

We are thinking about getting a black capped caique. I hope that I learn a lot here!

Welcome, feel free to have a look around, there are plenty of stories.

I almost got a caique, they are the 'clown of the parrot world' very playful and entertaining. However there have been recent discussions on them as well addressing their potentially difficult personality. I'm a bit skeptical whether this is the species in general or just a couple bad cases that are coincidentally caiques, but it's something to check out and get from caique owners or those with first hand experience.

Hi Katrina, great to have you on board.
Welcome to the wonderful world of birds.
Browse around, great info, very informative advise and lovely members.
Good luck
Keep us update
Take care

Welcome! Definitely do your research and make sure you get the right bird to fit your family and life style. There is a breeder in Loveland that I've heard good things about. They may be able to give you a good idea Avalon Aviary: Bird Supply Store and Parrot Breeder in Loveland, Colorado. I've never personally been there, but when we were researching the right bird for our family, this aviary was recommended to talk to.
