Hi again, and thanks for all the nice comments=)
I guess I have to make a thread and present both me and Blu better!
Blu is 3,5 months old, and I bought from a local breeder. He came to us only 3 weeks ago, but we have allready connected really well. He is, so far, a perfect bird=)
Norway is cold, but not that cold. Right now we have around 10+ celcius outside. Winter is coming, but again, its not that cold=)
It is normal to have exotic bird up here. People have them as pets in their houses, but we also have breeders, that keep the outside.
During the winter, when it´s snowing, the birds are inside, but some of them acutalle loves the snow=)
Agaim, I will make a thread to tell you more about Blu, and thanks again for all your nice replys=)
Thanks again for your nice comments=)
Here is a few lines about us, and Blu, our blue and gold macaw=)
We finally decided to get a parrot after years of wanting one. I have been working as a magician for several years, and I use to do magic with doves, and from there, I soon wanted to get a bigger bird.
Being a young couple with kids we saw that there wasnt room for a parrot at first, but now, being married, with a house, both of us with good jobs, we finally found out that the boys (4 and 6) was big enough, and we also had the room for a parrot in our house.
We looked on many birds, but after some thinking we decided that a macaw was something we wanted. I first wanted a cockatoo, but after som reading we found that a macaw was more the bird for us.
I found a local breeder, and ordered the bird in the beginning of august, and after a long wait, we took him home 4 weeks ago.
He is still a baby, and being only 4 months old he has ALOT to learn, and we have alot to learn about him, but things are going really well.
After only 4 weeks he knows how to step up and down, i can clip his nails, he wave hi and give me a high five. We are also doing trainging with harness, and he likes that. He has been with me out, when go to the office, and he really likes meeting new people. Somethings are scary, but all in all, he is a great macaw=)
There is many people in Norway with exotic birds, but macaws is something people normally keep outside, and often only for breeding. There is people like us, that wants to have it as a pet, but not many. I think that is most because lack of knowledge in big birds as pet.
If you guys have any questions about Blu or us, please dont be afraid to ask=)
