Howdy y'all (yep I'm from South Ga). I have been enjoying and reading your site since last year when I got my first bird- an awesome sweet male Senegal named Simione (we call him Simi)- 3 yrs old. I have learned a ton. Now I am the momma of a Triton cockatoo 8 months old names Maggie May. It is her who has brought me to join and post bc I am struggling with being a cockatoo owner. I DID research extensively before deciding to get her but sure was over confident I now see. I am here to learn all I can and hopefully make her adjustment her easier on her and on my family- including my animal family. I also own 4 dogs -a pekinese and an elderly adopted chihuahua inside and two outdoor bull dogs. I work from home making jewelry (and now bird toys) due to a failed spinal fusion leaving me in non relenting 24/7 pain. Birds are the bet therapy I have found yet. I so appreciate a place to post and read and educate myself. Thanks so much. Off to post about our issues.

and welcome to the forum:)

Welcome!! I'm even further south, down in New Orleans. :) Us Southern Gals have to stick together.
I'd love to see pics of your babies!!

Hello, craftyGAgal!

I feel your pain, regarding your spinal fusion - I had one almost 4 years ago that left me with nerve damage in my left arm.

Anyway, I hope you're able to gain some knowledge from this forum...I know I am.

I'm sorry to here about your pain :( birds really are great therapy, if I ever feel down Rosie always makes me feel better.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new birdy. And I also understand . I have been disabled since 1996 after spinal surgery left me with too many restrictions and a chronic back problem. I would love to see pics of your babies and I agree animals are a big comfort:)

Thanks so much for the warm welcome:eek:!!! Glad to be here! Sorry so many of you can relate to chronic pain... I often say it is like a club, one you don't wanna be in but find yourself in great company.
I am working hard to help my new triton cockatoo, I do now realize even though I asked all the right questions and tried to educate myself I am def in over my head now. I am really hoping and praying it will all work it's self out.

Hi welcome to the forums, I'm sorry for your back it sounds so painful. I don't have one, but cockatoo's are awesome

Post photos of you two birdies:)
