My name is Jamie. I'm married with four children my bird and a new puppy. I just signed up to this forum today, mainly to see if I can find my bird a good home:( This makes me so sad, but at this point I just feel like it would be best. I'll try to tell you all my story without making it too long. My daughter, who is only five had been begging for a puppy for months. She loves animals and had never had a pet before. We were starting to cave and almost adopted one from Petsmart, but I decided to wait. My husband works for a cable company and was at a customers house one day - who has a bird rescue, and I guess he was admiring all of her birds, and she asked him if he wanted one. So he brought this bird home thinking it could take the place of a puppy. Well, that didn't happen, she still got her puppy. So, Ive had her now for three months and I just feel really bad because she doesn't get the attention that she needs and wants. She wont let anyone touch her except me. Shes a sun conure, so she is very loud. I just don't know what to do.:(

Have you talked with the lady you got her from, will she take it back?? What part of the world are you in? maybe there's a forum member close by who could help.

She doesn't want her back, she already has too many. I am in Georgia, about 40 min south of Atlanta.

Hi Jamie,

If push comes to shove & you can't find a good home in your area, I'm about 40 - 60 min NW of Atlanta, you're welcome to PM me.....

Thats a bad practice of this rescue of the bird, And now your in a pickle.

I truly believe that animals do not make "good presents," unless..... Research is done, and every family member is on board. You go in to it already somewhat invested, you know what you want, and you somewhat know what to expect.

Puppy mills, bird mills, etc, bank on the fact that most people will buy on impulse. So this is a good lesson. Thanks for posting and welcome to the board. I am a dog trainer, so If you need advise/help with your puppy, you can PM me.

Hey Wendy, the OP said the bird came from a" rescue" not a breeder, the "rescue" would not take the bird back. Maybe you could amend your post to say "Bad Rescue" I guess rescues don't care about their birds either? Don't forget, when you point your finger, 3 fingers are pointing back at you.

Hey no problem. But I will say, there are good rescues and bad rescues. Good breeders, and bad breeders. I never said "rescues" or breeders for that matter, don't take care of their animals, you did. In this case, I'm not worried about the 3 fingers pointing back at me.
