Her cere changed colors

One of my female keets cere has changed colors. It was a very dark brown, and now it's a very light bluish color. I know she's a girl because she has 3 babies, lol. Is this normal? She also is always moving her beak, like she's talking or something. Why does she do this?

Is it possible that the brown crusty part of her cere came off?

When female budgies goes into mating mode their cere turns crusty brown. But once out of mating mode it goes back to their regular coloring which is the light blue coloring.

She's laying eggs again!

Is there something that's causing her to lay??? She alone or have other budgies?

All the boys are having their way with her, and are "cheating" on their girlfriends, lol. It's like a parakeet Peyton Place around here, lol!

That's pretty normal behavior in budgies. Several parrot species are polygamous, that is, having more than one mate. It may be a great way to ensure genetic diversity within offspring, especially with the possibility of offspring pairing up later as adults.


Do you want to stop her from laying eggs and reproducing?

I would love if she stopped reproducing, as we have 3 females currently reproducing! Yikes. I should have gotten all males, lol! The babies are less than 3 months old right now. I gave 3 of them to a friend, but kept 3 of them.
