Hi all! I have a GCC, Max. :gcc: He's probably about 3. He was.. neglected.. in his old place. He's terrified of fingers, doesn't step up when called, and has terrible separation anxiety over me (he has been smitten since I first met him.)

My question is about his separation anxiety: specifically at night. We cover him, and he sleeps in the same room as us. But he wakes up every time I move! He gets really loud if I leave the room (to pee, get water, etc) and short of wheeling his cage with me to every part of the house (at 3am so I can pee) I don't know what to do that won't wake my roommates. Flock calling doesn't work for him and being unresponsive takes minutes for him to get it.

Any advice for me?
My roommates and my cranky birdy say thank you!! :gcc:

I would start by placing a noise machine (even your cell phone with an app like RainyMood.com) near the cage. White noise, not radio, so he can't hear you when you leave. Then you can work on separation in a healthy way during the day first, then progress to night without your roommates suffering.

We had Plum in with us on hols and it really didnt work. He is much better in another room. It seems he was listening/on guard all night which wasn't good for him.
He seemed to relinquish his guard duty in another dark and quiet room.
