Cinnamon Green Cheek Conure
Ok so a bit of back story..
Izzie is a 3 year old cinnamon green cheek conure, I've had for 2 1/2 years, got her from a pet shop I worked at and I know her breeder.
I got her a mate (Phoenix) on Thursday, he's a 2 month old normal green cheek conure (I know he's too young to breed right now), got him from the same breeder.

Ok, so now for the problem...
The night I got Phoenix, Izzie bit my partner on the finger quite hard, without realising it he chucked her across the room, she hit the wall quite hard and I believe she went into shock. I was terrified as she is my baby! She was quite drowsy and had her feet clenched. After a while she came good, however her right foot took longer to unclench.
She seems fine now, however she is holding her foot up when resting, this is different to her foot position while she's sleeping etc. I asked the breeder and he said it could be ligament damage. She is still using it and her grip seems fine too. She is doing most if not all her normal crazy behaviours, however she seems just that little bit off, a little quiet, etc.
Is this because she's in pain or because there's a new bird in the house??

Please help!!

I'd take her to the vet. It sounds a littler serious. But I had the same problem except my bird flew into a door really hard. She also went into shock, but she didn't have the same problem.

I do recommend the vet, but I don't think its ligament damage seeing as she really didn't injure herself.

I hope whatever happens its not serious.

I would certainly take her to the vet, the sooner the better. Remember, our fids are excellent at hiding possible ailments/injuries.

Congrats on your new baby. :)

Please remember that it's always advisable to keep new birds separate (in quarantine) for a minimum of 1 month, and it would be a bad idea to have the newcomer checked out by an avian vet as well.

The hit to the wall may have done some internal injuries. She could have a mild head concussion/nerve damage which could explain the feet clenching. You don't say how long it has been? How is her grip on your finger now?

Thanks so much for all your replies.

This all happened last Thursday. So it's been 4 days. Her foot is fine to grip now, she is using it and was standing on it solely yesterday while eating with the other one.

A lot happened in one day, so it's hard to know what's causing her reactions and how she's feeling.

I'll call the vet today and see what they say and if I can get in. Thanks again guys.

Sounds like a possible head injury to me, vet visit I would believe is necessary. I hope she will be fine and we are all over reacting, but better to be safe than sorry.
