He looks pretty young to me. Do you provide heat for him?

Yep i would say it's spot on with the age. Should be having hand rearing formula, 3 feeds a day & then once he fledges or starts to fly you can introduce other foods, like fruit & veg. Sprouts, pellets.

He looks about 5 weeks old to me and so sweet. Something about baby birds that just tugs at my heart. Love to look at them but will leave hand feeding to those that do it for a living. Good luck and post pics as he grows.

Hi Abzeez, he is 5 weeks old today. No, I do not provide heat for him. According to my vet it is not necessary were we live as it gets about 37-40 degrees celsius during the day and at night it is about 25 degrees. So we just cover him.

Hi Pedro! He's getting three feeds during the day and one last feed just before bed time at about 9. He already eats fruits and veg and plays with the pellets. He also already started to climb his ladder and he sits on his perch. That's why I am worried, cause according to other people they only start climbing, etc. at a much later stage. Maybe mine is just an early bloomer??

Hi melinda, I sure hope he is 5 weeks old. Just scared I might be underfeeding him if he is indeed older. But he looks pretty healthy to me, and oh so busy! He never sits still and his poor teddybear has now become a stepping tool to get onto his perch! hahaha! I think I have done a great job with the hand feeding - he was used to the spoon when I got him at 3 weeks old, so there were no hassles feeding him. And he is a little piggy!

I got Max (Alexandrine at 4 weeks) he was already eating fruit and vegies (grated) as well as having access to small bird seeds... I hand fed him as well with hand rearing formula, until he weaned himself... You can see on his crop, when he's had enough to eat.

Hi Lene, thank you. Obviously you can see in his crop if he has had enough, what I meant with underfeeding is that I am worried that the handfeeding formula does not contain the right neutrients and vitamins, etc. for his age.
