Need urgent advice from you guys.
Our 12-yeal old eclectus boy hasn't been feeling well for about a week. At first it started with a weak foot,it went away for a few days and escalated into something resembling a liver disease. My partner has been giving him avi drops and lots of different vitamins suitable for eclectuses. He only got worse a day or two ago after he got much better. I think the main problem was that he had a lot of sunflower seeds(he was feeling better before that and we had no clue he had such severe liver issues, since we got him given to us about a year ago).
At this moment he is so weak he can hardly move at all, we transported him into a smaller private cage and been giving him nothing but fresh fruit and veggies and water, he barley touches any, he just dips his beak into the water but doesnt drink, he barley chews his food. Sometimes he looks like he feels better and even sits on his pearch at other times he is weak, has no appetite and is closing his eyes like he's drifiting in and out.
We WILL take him to the vet tomorrow as none of them could give us an appointment at a later date and all that we were told was to change his diet from seeds to fresh fruit and veg.
ALL I need to know is this: Until he gets tested at the vet what can we possibly do to help him at least a tiny bit? It is breaking our hearts seeing our boy like this. PLEASE HELP!:(

Keep him in a smaller cage with 3/4 covered with towels. Get a heat lamp ( for reptiles ) at the pet stores. Feed him seed! You can't just change his diet like that. It will cause more stress and he'll starve. You have to change diets gradually.

I am sorry but this doesn't sound very good at all. All you can really do is try to give your him some electrolytes. Even one for babies when they are sick will do just mix up the same. This will help some.
Also keep him warm. You can also make up a warm mash, a little on the runny side & try to get him to eat off the spoon. DON'T give any more Vitamins. Or get some hand rearing formula.

Truthfully you should have taken him to the Vet when you first noticed he wasn't well. Birds will hide the fact they are ill untill they are gravely sick. Sorry that is all i can help with am happy you are taking him to the Vet though.

yea i agree u should of got him to the vet as soon as u seen somthing was wrong. but dodnt justr stop giving him the food hes used to as he wont eat at all then, hope he gets better keep us posted
