Black capped conure
Hi everyone, I am new but I frequently go here always for any information about parrots and its always wonderful to see so much information from bird owners.
I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me identify if this is a problem that I should bring to a vets attention, my conure has this small white feather coming out from above his tail and I am pretty worried about how the skin looks around the feather. Is this how tail feathers are meant to grow, or could it be something serious?
I have noticed this feather a while before but now I am concerned as it has not grown out yet and I am very worried.

From my extremely limited knowledge, and some advice from a different forum, perhaps it's just a white feather that grew in due to genetic variation. It may be molted out and then come back as normal.

However, the photo isn't too clear (or I just have bad eyes, which is a possibility), so I have to ask, is the feather within the capsule still or has that been opened? and is the skin red and inflamed around the feather?

Most of all, how did your bird react to you touching that area? I know it's above the tail and at least for me, Callum gets very upset whenever I get near that area (understandably.)
