Ok I have a 7 month old (DNA sexed female) CAG (Greycie). She's a great energetic, playful, intelligent ( I could go on) parrot! I've had her since she was 4 months old.
My problem with Greycie is she won't stay on her perch, play gym, or anywhere for that matter. Her wings are clipped, fortunate or unfortunately that's how she came. She constantly jumps, tries to fly , from anyplace I put her. Even if I'm standing right next to her! I have a female DYH (Lambeau) that's a few months older than her. She use to do this too but seems to have grown out of it. My DYH will contently play on her play gym and does not attempted to fly or get down, or jump off. Nothing is scaring her. She just constantly has that "I'm about to jump/fly" stance and the next thing you know there she goes! I can't wait till her flight feathers come back. She's doing well with clicker training. But I'd like to just be able to have her out of her cage for most of the day but she won't stay put!!!!!! I'm hoping she grows out of it. When I would visit her before bringing her home she did the same thing except she'd jump off your finger not to mention everything else! If she's on my finger she's not so bad (anymore) but put her on a stand, play gym, perch, etc and she's trying to fly or jump off!!! It drives me crazy! I've been putting my hand up and telling her NO! But it does not seem to help. Sooooooo for the last few weeks I've been placing her back n her cage when she jumps off the perch or play gym etc. then let her out a few minutes later. I'm not sure if I'm seeing any change!
Sorry for the long post, but any help/ suggestions would be appreciated.
PS. She's not frightened, and the perch/play gyms are NOT new to her! She just won't stay put!!!!!!!
Thanks for any and all help/suggestions.

Have you tried training her with the stay command
I would think it would be easier since you have started clicker training.
Just keep increasing the duration and see what happens

Thanks Wulf.....
Jasper doesn't do it anymore? I hope Greycie grows out of it. Oh well we shall see.

When she jumps off, is she near by you or a distance from you? Can she see you?

My Gracie will jump off her stand IF she can't see us. I usually put them on their stand while I clean their cages. So now I roll the stand infront of the room so they can watch me clean their cage, that's when she stopped jumping off.

Thanks for all the suggestions/ help. Well she'll jump whether I'm near her in her sight or not! She's just plain goofy..... But I love her just the same. It might be getting better. I've noticed if I look at her and she she sees me it's all over she'll try and get to me....aka jumping thinking she can fly. I still put her in her cage if she jumps off her perch, play gym, etc. but now I don't stare at her......well actually I do but I do it on a sly and that seems to work. I just can't get caught looking at her. LOL! Thanks guys.

Hi there, perhaps place a few toys on the playpen, or where ever you want her to be.
Sit there for a while. play with the toys, and she might just get curious and begin to play, and best of all remain there for a while
Good luck, keep us updated

I have the same problem with Buddy (Galah) he is a pain in the rear end , im forever looking for him ! he doesnt fly just climbs off his cage and goes adventuring

Have you tried the stay and treat. Staring very slow place her on the perch say stay give treat taking one step back each time if she moves go back to the beginning and start all over again it can take a Looooong time but with luck she will learn to stay. I just got my IRN to stay took sometime. Now if I could just teach the dogs to do the same thing lol.
