Parrots
2 Green Cheek Conures
6 parakeets
2 canaries
I've had a GCC for about a year, Nelson is his name. I also have 6 parakeets, snow, jazz, Bennie, Joon, Jack Sparrow and Lizzie (who turned out to be a boy) and 2 Canaries,Song and Melody, and had a Cockatiel Millie, who was a rescue (as are the keets). Millie passed away about 2 months ago. Before she did, Nelson, used to break into her cage to hang out with her. (She was an extremely timid bird, who hated to be out of her cage, so sad). When Millie passed, Nelson was inconsolable when he wasn't with me in the same room. He would wail, which broke my heart. I decided to bring him a friend home after finding a very young cinnamon GCC. I was so excited for him. He's always gotten along with all the other birds, and has broken in to the parakeets cage several times and spent time with them too. Well, he flew over to the cinnamon's cage and they both were trying to fight through the bars! Needless to say, it wasn't the reaction I so hoped it would be. They, of course, have their own cages, but my birds are typically out and about daily. Advise please? 🤔

As said by someone else here, "Parrots are like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get...." (Birdman666). Give them time and hope!
As an example, as a rescue, I had two baby lovebirds in the house. My JoJo was feeding them the first day! Brought me to tears! Well, second day? All JoJo was interested in was biting their feet, poor babies!

Welcome to the forums!

How long ago did you bring the new GCC home? When birds meet for the first time it's normal for them to be defensive. There's almost always a little shrieking, beak sparring, fluffing, bluffing. They should be closely supervised at first until you know they aren't going to hurt each other. There are no guarantees that two birds will ever be closely bonded but I'm guessing your GCC's will at least tolerate each other. If the new bird has just arrived you may want to give him or her some time to adjust before letting him or her out with the other birds. I would definitely cover the tops of the other birds' cages to protect toes.
