Hi everyone, ive had my gcc for about a month now. He is a good bird, he doesnt bite me and we do stepupdown no problem but he is starting to try to pull, my moles off my neck and fingernails he doesnt bite he just pinches. How do I get him to stop? He is 6 months old and the pet store said they only had him 2 weeks. He is a calm bird but he flys to me from the top of thr cage All the time. How much time can he spend in his cage, now used only to sleep.
thanks.

I think he's trying to preen you if I'm not mistaken. Every now and then Ducati will find a blemish on my forehead and start digging at it. I just tell Ducati to stop and he usually quits. We're working on it more since he likes to pull little hairs out of my head.

Sounds like he's starting to trust you and becoming a Velcro bird. Not necessarily a bad thing unless he's getting aggressive to other people. Ducati is a huge momma's boy (has to be with me no matter what I'm doing), but he still goes to my husband and steps up and everything else. As far as being in the cage his cage is closed while we're at work just because we have a cat and two dogs. It gets opened when one of us gets home and pretty much stays open the rest of the day until bedtime. Are you not wanting him to fly to you? I'm unsure what you're asking there.

Ok I had a skin tag pulled off by my GCC 2 years ago, echo is always putting her beak to everything super curious. I got her to stop with a simple moving her beak away from my moles, along with a stern no. She basically thinks it's a sunflower seed lol. I don't want to call it a tap but a move in a different direction with my finger, she no longer picks at them she figured out it hurts dad lol. The time spent out of he's cage is totally up to you. Just make sure you can give him the same amount of time out of the cage, sometimes when there is a change they act out with a scream for attention. Remember not to give him a positive or negative reaction when he acts out just ignore him, only take him out when he's calm and quite. There's also nothing wrong with a velcro bird, it happens often just be careful when a bird bonds with a human they can be a little protective of you. Sometimes they see other people as a threat. Sunny who is bonded with me will go after people hugging me or people to close to me, he will draw blood. Good luck with your new baby sounds like you guys are off to a great start, congratulations! !

Thanks megan, I want him to fly to me thats not what I meant was that he is all over me all the time, I was wondering how long in cage that wont hurt him and then I could have a little time off....:32:

Lol. I can understand that. It's up to you really. It may take him a little while to get used to being in the cage.
