I have recently bought a baby senegal parrot. I have no idea how to get him to come to me or even get him out of his cage. as soon as I put my hand in he goes on the bars at the back of the cage. I have managed to get him out through the top of the cage but only by openeing it up and then he flies out but all he does is fly around the room and i end up following him from one end of the room and back to the top of his cage umpteen times and he and I both get tired of that he will not go on my hand, i can' get my hand anywhere near him until he is tired but then he tries to bite. I just haven't a clue how to get him to step up. He will take a grape from me through the bars of the cage but that's it. can anybody give me some advice. thanks

Check out parrot wizard on YouTube :) He has a video that helps with first time parrot owners with zero experience. If I find the video, I'll post it. Sorry! Haha

You're rushing things!

Slow down! Your baby is exactly that, a baby! Everything is new, YOU are new. He doesn't know you, doesn't trust you yet. He doesn't know you just want to play and give him love. You don't need to be grabbing him out and handling him just yet. Sit by his cage, chat to him, offer him treats through the cage bars, let him just get used to you presence first, then when he starts to respond to you (not putting himself at the back of the cage when you open it up, etc) then you can start offering treats in your hands, get him to approach that. Realise that hands arn't scary things.

There's so much to do to build up trust with a new bird. Don't rush it! Give it some time and you'll have a loving baby bird, but right now, just let him settle and get used to you. :)

I definitely agree with Mayden, you're going too fast. Once your senegal is comfortable with you in the room and looks like he might even be interested in you, then you can open the cage door and offer him a treat in your fingers. If he takes it offer another on your open palm. Then you can try to coax him onto your hand my putting a treat on the other side of one of your hands. If at any time he seems scared, back off. Your goal is to make sure he associates you with only good things, so you don't want him to ever be scared or unhappy during a taming session. Take it slowly, because building trust with your bird can take anywhere from days to months. Your little guy's probably just still settling in, and he'll probably be coming to you in just a few days. Good luck!
