Help Needed - Overgrown beak and odd behavior

Hello,

I have two budgies ~1 year old, both been happy and healthy and recently one of them started molting. At times she would loose tail feathers to the point where her tail looks trimmed.

Later, we've noticed that she can't fly much and started falling off of the perch. Additionally she has developed an overgrown beak (we do have multiple fish bones and she does use them from time to time).

Since it's Thanksgiving, all of the area vets are closed till Monday. Plus taking her out in a travel cage to a vet could be a very stressful experience for her.

Has anyone seen anything similar? How worried should we be? What to expect? Should we take her to an emergency clinic which is about 2 hour drive and has 4+ hours wait time.

First thing that comes to mind is fatty liver disease. My Lovebird has a beak that grows quickly. I regularly nail file his beak. Try adding milk thistle and dandelion to his food to help him detox.

I worry about PBFD, this has all the hall marks of this. One good thing if thats what this is, is that budgies often do better than other parrot species, and feather loss is usually limited to tail and wings. Its a chronic life long problem. But highly contagious to other parrots. So you should nit add to your flock, and practice extreme caution around other parrots out of the house.
I would wait for a certified avain vet . Warmth, helps sick birds. Easy access to food and water, maybe egg food, crumbled nutriberrues, make sure you offer leafy lettuces.
And try and get in with avian vet as soon as possible
