Galah (rose) cockatoo
My 7-month old galah cockatoo vomited for a third time over a period of 3 months. It happened at first a few months ago and last two times this week ( on Thursday and on Saturday). She behaves stressed and agitated right before it happens but returns to her normal behavior within next 10 minutes. Overall she is playful, affectionate, acting happy and lively, eats well and does not lose weight. The vomit looks like a pile of brown mushy substance, liquid on the outside with a rock hard center. Her diet did not change, we are giving her a fresh mix of veggies and fruits each morning, with some pallets and seed mix throughout the day. We already called the veterinarian, but can only go there on Monday. What could this be? We are afraid that she might have the lead poisoning since she was able to chew on the cables in our house.

Parrots can develop a Dry Crop and as a result have difficulty moving food around within it prior to swallowing it. When it occurs, they tend to regurgitated the mass, which appears as you describe it.

Lead poisoning could exist as a result crewing on 'very old' Knob & Tube style AC wiring. But that only exists in homes built prior to 1920. Crewing on television or stereo cables do not contain lead.

Keep your appointment as your Vet can take a detailed look at your Parrot's Crop.

Here is hoping the vet has good news for you.
We have to wait until Thursday to see veterinatian, very frustrating. Tella (our cockatoo) is acting lively and happy even though it happened again yesterday... we found the same brownish substance in her water. Very worried for our little girl :(
