ok, take a deeeeep breath .... ok, all calmed down a bit? good. First order of business, welcome and we love pictures. Second, I don't know the first thing about ringneck's but I know someone will come along who does. Also, why is it such a critical thing for them to be male and female? I mean if they like each other and are happy and healthy it really shouldn't matter. To breed them takes LOADS of knowledge or at least tons of research (unless they are like teenagers and forget to use protection). Anyways, welcome again.

Wellcome! I think you'll find the answer by some ringneck parront here or somebody that might know, full of bird knowledgeable people around who may have the answer.:)

Meanwhile why don't you do a google search to read about visually sexing ringnecks? :D

Or have you already done this? :04:

hehe thankyou both for replies i hope someone helps me:D

i have googled it and nothing really helpful!

thanks again guys

Welcome, Aiden! I am going to echo indigo ... as I am quite curious. Why is it such a critical thing for them to be male and female?

Best of luck in your search. I'm sure someone will pop in with more, too.

It all depends on the age of the birds, how old are they, and if it were to be a pair, why did you buy them so young? If you were intending on breeding, you should always buy a pair that has already laid and you know they match (its not always to say if you buy male and female they will match and breed), they choose partners. Also, are they the same age? Are they clutch mates, cause it sounds to me that they are the same age.

They might be brother and sister or something, personally I would want to know, 2 males wouldn't worry me but two females would make me nervous.

google images = female indian ringneck. Darchi's correct in saying girls have a visible but not coloured ring :)

Hi there and welcome to PF first and foremost.

First off how old is the female? If she is only young then the ring wouldn't be dark, (if it were to turn out to be male) Did you want to breed them?

Its really only when they get older you can tell from a glance if you have male/female.

If you are hoping to breed them, did the store/breeder tell you that it may NEVER happen, I have a pair of Rosellas, Tiels Linnies and until recently a pair of Bourkes, and the only ones who've ever bred are the tiels.

Can you post a larger pic of your two ringnecks? with a little more info. Age, are they bonded etc. Thanks.

There are many names that can go for male as well as female. And what the others are saying, just because you have a male and a female does not mean they necessarily will mate. Also, you don't want to mate siblings (or at least I'd not want to) - it's just kinda creepy.

mine is a ringneck... no wait... silly me... i mean i want to ring her neck :D
