For those of you who read my thread a few days or so ago, we ran into a sun conure locked in his or her cage in the middle of the street. So far nobody has claimed the bird, and while we're still looking for the owner, the sun conure is staying with us, and he or she needs a name!

I've considered naming him "Odyssey" as the bird fell off a truck in the middle of nowhere similar to how Odysseus went off course in the story and became lost. Runner up names that have no significant meaning are : Pokey, Atlas, Horus and Garuda.

Go with your instinct. Odyssey is a beautiful name. I like it. I would love to see a photo of Odyssey.:)

Sorry the picture is blurry as it's from my cell phone. He's been really nervous around people, but he fell of a truck and has been carted around to safety so I don't really it personal. Hopefully he will learn to like people.

I am so glad you found him, poor baby:(
I think Odyssey is a perfect name for him. I am looking forward to hearing more about him:)

He does look rattled doesn't he? (or she?) I think you've picked a perfect name.

I'll be honest, I have no idea if this bird is a male or female. And yeah, he's not exactly comfortable either, but considering he fell off a truck and was in the street surrounded by unknown people, I can't really blame him for being rattled.

Thank you, I just don't know if he will become tame or like people, but I'm going to try and work with him until he's comfortable again.

I like Atlas.

Also, a name Ive always like for a bird is Echo.

I also like the name Odyssey, and it would work if "he" turned out to be a male or female. Poor little thing, I can't believe someone would actually transport a bird in the back of a truck in the first place, and then not even come looking for him when they realized he fell out? You finding him is probably the best thing thats happened to him. Hopefully he settles in quickly! I'm sure with some love, he'll get over his traumatic experience soon enough.

He was found on Feb 8th so I stopped by at the local animal control to hang up a found bird poster. The lady working asked how I found the bird and told her he was still in his cage in the road presumably fell off a truck.

She said that unfortunately probably means the original owner intended to dump the bird off as a cage that massive couldn't have been ignored if it fell of a truck. There have been instances where people dumped their birds because they're too loud.

Poor Baby! You are his/her guardian angel! I do like the name Odyssey too! Hope the poor birdie learns that there are those that they can love too!

Odyssey is sure lucky you found him, heaven know where he would be today.

Kind of strange that the driver did not come back looking for his bird, perhaps he did and did not see anything.

Anyway I reckon he is in a loving home now and being cared for the way a bird should be.

I love the name Odyssey, seems fitting to me.

That's what I'm thinking, but the cage he fell in is HUGE as in appropriate living space. It's about this big minus the wheels (it touches the ground) http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTIwMFgxMjAw/z/5AIAAOxysE5SatU-/$T2eC16N,!zEFIef6ZgmkBS,tU-KkrQ~~60_35.JPG
