Well for starters its easter Sunday I think my Jackie is sick he is a yellow naped Amazon. I did speak with his vet on Friday and he told me it just might be hormones but today I am worried. He will not come out of his cage and usually I cant keep him off of me, he will not eat much at all vet said give him apple sauce he will eat it but not much he will eat some seed but compared to normal he is eating less than half of what he eats in a normal day.
he wil not talk to me or let me rub his neck or nothing I am going to call vet in the morning any ideas on anything I ccan do to make him feel better.
I an so scared I am going to lose him.... HELP:(

Is he drinking water ? maybe some pedialite til you can get him to the vet. Good luck,

You can also give a large dose of Probotics for Animals. It can be mixed in with the Pedialyte. The probiotics will help with good bacteria in the intestines & help his immune system get back on track.

Sometimes using Probotics & an electrolyte can be a great benefit to a sick or unwell Parrot & 2 products each & everyone of us should have on hand should we need it in an emergancy.

Did you take your bird to the avian vet?? We cannot help you, get your bird to a doctor pronto. Don't feed your amazon lettuce. Lesley

Lesley,

You can feed lettuce, just depends what kind, absolutely NO Iceberg!!!!!!

Thanks for the info Mikey, I didn't know iceberg should not be fed. (I haven't fed any anyway)

i would keep them warm and comfortable, im sorry i cant help much but i hope he's OK, you and your bird are in my prayers, let us know how it goes.

Is he pooping diarrhea? Does his poop look different than usual? Is it more watery? I'd take him to a vet immediately in any case. You don't want your friend to die.
