I just got my lovebird yesterday and he hasn't been exploring his cage at all.
I'm starting to get worried. I have a great bond for only being with him for 36 hours. He was out of the cage most of the day yesterday and today. I went to a Christmas party ,and he hadn't moved from the perch I set him on in his cage when I left. This is concerning me and I am getting worried about him.

Don't get too upset, he's probably just nervous from being in a new place. Give him some time to settle in, as long as he's not sitting on the bottom of the cage or all fluffed up, he's probably fine. A vet visit is always a good idea though when you first get a new bird, just to make sure you're starting out with a clean slate in the health department.

He doesn't look to be fluffed up and he hasn't gone to the bottom. Next Saturday he has an appointment for the vet.

Sounds like you're off to a good start. When we first got ziggy she sat in the same spot in or on her cage for about a week, although she is a very shy bird to begin with. It took about a month before she said anything in front of us as well. Not to mention, with christmas right around the corner, tensions are usually running high in our households anyway. Just try not to overwhelm the little guy and I'm sure he'll come around in his own due time :)

I know how you feel, all of my friends think I'm crazy cuz I treat our birds like they're made of glass or something. :D

Except for eating and drinking, my amazon sat in the same spot for 2 days with his back to me. He just didn't know what was going on. He was in a new home with a new person he had never met before. He is also just now learning about toys I think. He didn't have room in his old cage for any. It just takes time. You are doing fine.
