Heyyyy~i'm rather new to this forum so i thought i'd introduce myself and my parrots!

i have two sun conures, ollie & jollie. they were purchased separately but are now quite good buddies and stay together.

we got ollie when he was around 3weeks old, before we knew of the dangers associated with hand feeding without prior experience:31: but thankfully it went okay and hes a happy healthy birdie now!!

jollie was bought when she was around 4 months old. we werent exactly planning for another conure but we happened to come across this pet store that still kept their parrots in those containers for babies even when some were quite old...no perches toys or anything so we decided to buy her! didnt let us touch her and preferred to sulk somewhere when outta the cage at first. but now she lovesss the attention and wants to be with us wherever we go although she still does not like being patted on her back.

we were buying some supplies at a bird shop and they had a new shipment of yellow crowned amazons all wild but quite young. fell in love with one of them coz he had....just this look~~ was a quite aggressive when he first came home but is such a darling now we named him pickles aka clumsy as he is VERY clumsy. very chattery too!after dinner he goes off into his helllooooss, love you, ollie(the other guy's name hehe) and a whole bunch of stuff we've yet to understand.

after getting pickles we were sure that there wasnt gonna be another bird in the house except for some baby doves that fall in the garden every now and then but then....we saw two red-bellied macaws in a pet store and after researching a bit about them, found out that they were difficult to keep alive in captivity and decided to buy them and TRY to give them a better life

so thats it! my little flock its nice to be on a forum here with all da other parrot lovers, really

nope i'm from singapore!!
yeah i'm so glad they are eating better now! i feed them a staple of almonds,cashew,walnuts,sunflower seeds and zupreem natural or pretty bird natural gold pellets. is that okay??:O and also top off with fresh stuff in da mornings. they're not too enthusiastic bout fresh stuffs yet but we'll keep trying!!

Those are both ok pellets, not the best but not the worst either. I recomend zupreem natural to people who are unable to get Harrison's or totally organics

If you can find them in Singapore these two pellets(below) are significantly better, I included the first few lines of ingredients to show the difference. I feed Harrison's to both my fids, I fully support and recommend this pellet. Rosie(galah) had been improving very slowly, and was always on the skinny side. When I switched her to Harrison's she began improving very quickly, and within months was up to the proper weight as well as improved health. My African grey has been eating harrison's his entire life(20 years) and looks amazing. Beautiful healthy birds

I love TOPS, it has incredible ingredients but I have trouble getting my birdies to eat it. What I do is grind the pellets up and add it to birdie bread, throw it in their eggs, sprinkle over their fresh food. I find every opportunity to sneak it into their diet

hahaha yeah its quite a nice place here!

mmm i feed harrisons and top to my conures!i weaned them on that so they have no problem gobbling all of it upi also feed some roudybush and harrisons to the amazon along with pretty bird coz he wont eat top but i only have harrisons in fine right now, the next shipment would be in dec and i would get some in coarse for them! they wont touch top though~ so i stopped putting some in their feed.

i actually quite like the idea of feeding a variety of pellets because its a bit difficult to get a steady supply of pellets here. if one happens to not arrive or finishes before the next shipment then at least they'll have something to eat! i have harrisons, roudybush, pretty bird, zupreem pellets at home so i feed varying amounts on different days! do ya think this is ok??or should i stick with just one pellet brand?

I think that's great, nothing wrong with feeding multiple pellets. It's good that you're thinking in advance, if a shipment doesn't arrive on time you don't want your birds only eating one type then suddenly changing things up.

I've always chopped and changed food with my cats and dogs so they don't get addicted to "their" food and reject alternatives. Also, if there's any issue with a brand or a production run, not having just one brand/variety might minimize any effects. I think it's a good idea to feed a variety, even with the manufactured food.
