Hi all!
I am new here and initially I had registered me on this site only to gain information about which parrot would suit me and my lifestyle.

But I think I love the whole site! :)

I am 22 and male and I live in The Netherlands.
My hobbies are playing music, listening to music and playing boardgames.

If you have more questions, ask me. There is no question I won't answer.

One more question, though; Where can I ask advice on which parrot to take?

Thanks!
Rob.:yellow1:

Howdy! Glad you joined the flock. I recommend you not only read about different parrots but to also get out there and actually see the individual bird. Good luck with your search.

Thanks! That is what I am going to do eventually. :) Could you point me to the sub-forum where I ask for a recommendation? Thanks again!

Welcome! You might be able to ask on Questions and Answers? We don't really have a Recommendations subforum. Or you can ask on this thread. Each species forum has a sticky about that species where you can read up on them without having to sift through alot of posts. What are you looking for in a pet bird and have you raised birds before?

Hello Rob, Welcome to the forum! I'm glad you are doing research before you choose a bird. I suggest you open a new thread in Questions and Answers unless you have a specific species in mind. Best of luck with your search.

I think I will ask in this thread, thanks!

I do not have raised any birds as of yet. I am looking for a parrot or a bird which are gentle, sweet and love to sit ony my shoulder. The bird has to do one of two things; Love to learn to talk or sing, or performing nifty tricks. The bird has to be gentle to everyone and I dislike nibbling.

I have a small room of my one, so maybe that is a thing to be thought about.

I thought about a Hahns Macaw, or a Conure or a Senegal parrot. :)

Any recommendations?

Senegals are terrific at tricks, but not very good talkers. Some conures are great talkers and good at tricks. I've known a couple Hahn's that were decent talkers, but none of those are singers.

Unfortunately I've never met a parrot that doesn't like to nibble and there's no guarantee that they will be gentle.

Hello :)
Just keep reading and reading until you feel confident in your choice. It sounds like you have some very definite expectations which as thekarens suggests, there are no guarantees. Be careful in your choice so you do not have to find a new home for your bird.
good luck.

Hi, Rob ~

I've had a Sennie as well as a Hahn's, and a Hahn's really is a mini Macaw (attitude and all). Louie, (my Sennie), was the most laid-back, "soft-spoken" little bird I've ever known, and when he didn't want to be messed with, he would just push you away with his foot until he was ready. But he was a really, really big softy.

This guy's even been on Leno with his bird, so this can give you an idea of what fun you can have with Sennies: [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=unO5whIUF-M"]World Record 20 Parrot Tricks in 2 Minutes - Kili Senegal Parrot - YouTube[/ame]
