Hello! My name is Laura and I am a long time bird lover. I had a Cockatiel named Louie for almost 18 years, she passed away last fall which has been more difficult than I could have imagined. Thanks to her though it led me to my career of being a Zoo Keeper (specifically focused on avian care), so birds are a part of my daily life where ever I am.

Anyways, the home life is just not the same without a little bird feather everywhere, so I've decided to rescue when the right one comes a long. And in my search I found you all! So terribly excited to meet you all and learn even more than I do now! I'll be seeing you around for sure!

Welcome to the forum! I am sorry for your loss of Louie, but it sounds like he had a long, happy life with you I think it's great you're looking into the option of rescuing a bird! There are some real gems out there just waiting for a loving home. Any ideas of what species? Another tiel?

No, not another Tiel... Louie will be the only one in that department. But having had the opportunity to take care of larger species (Macaws, Amazons, Toos, and CAGS... along with birds of prey... but I can't have those) I'm leaning more towards a CAG. I love their chatter. Or a Cockatoo, I take care of one named Rascal and he's my main man where I work, but I think they'd notice if he disappeared.

I think it is wonderful that you are going to rescue a bird, so many out there needs homes so desperately.
