hello and thank you for accepting me. I am a newbie to parrots as i adopted an African Grey Parrot named Harley, from a friend who is moving out of state and can not take with her. I have never owned a bird before so this is all quite an interesting experience for my family and i.
We do not know if Harley is male or female, and we think 6-10 years old.
We say "he". Harley does not like men/boys which was the initial reason i took him was for my son who has always wanted a parrot. Then realized how much he dislikes men!! So my son is rather crushed.
Once again hello to alll!!!!:42:

Hello, welcome to the forum. I think that with lots of patience you could get you CAG to bond with men and boys.
Good luck.

Welcome! Greys are great birds. Post a pic when you have time.

The fact that your grey doesn't like your men really isn't an indicator of sex. DNA testing is the only real way unless she lays an egg.

Hello, congratulations on your new bird!
African greys can be a difficult pet, especially if you have never owned a bird before, and if the bird has also had a previous owner.
I suggest you look up some guides on how to properly train your grey, training can help you become closer, and help keep bad habits at bay.
I'm not sure how much training the previous owner did with him, but he should know some basic behaviors such as 'step up' and 'back in cage'.
Maybe browsing through the African Grey forum will also give you some ideas on common problems and how to fix them :)
